Extended Stay Services

When your patients enter The Laurels for an extended stay, we help them feel at home. We refer to our extended stay program as ”long-term caring.“ Our clinical approach to long-term caring integrates our Medically Complex Programs with the services, amenities and comforts of home. Our goal for all of our guests is to achieve the highest level of physical, social and emotional independence possible. Focus on the Well-Being

Our long-term caring program focuses on the well-being of each guest and that guest’s specialized needs. We provide extensive Recreational Services to promote activity and socialization, including community programs, church services, holiday celebrations, games, educational activities and much more. We believe independence is optimized through the activity of daily living.

Safety First

We assess each guest to ensure that the suggested restorative treatment is safe and effective. We offer a fall-prevention program that minimizes the use of restraints, a dining program that promotes self- or assisted-feeding and a swallowing program that improves nutrition while minimizing aspiration risks.

Clinical Approach

The clinical aspect of our long-term caring services is overseen by the Director of Nursing to ensure that each guest’s physician-directed therapy is carried out properly. We specialize in contracture management, proper positioning and seating and dementia management, as well as augmentative communication interventions. The Associates at The Laurels strive to create a comfortable, safe, home-like environment for our guests. Each guest has individual needs and may require special, unique services and amenities. Upon admission, we assess each guest’s individual needs and strive to meet them. Some of our basic amenities include:
